Taxes Here and Abroad
While lunching with a Brasilian colleague, he mentioned that buying an imported car was expensive in Brasil because of an 80 to 100% import tax (can you say “protectionism”?). He then mentioned that the price of domestic cars is also high because 60% of the price is taxes.
Kinda puts that whole “free healthcare” thing into perspective, doesn’t it?
