Secret to Shutting Up a Political Telemarketer
For some reason, AlphaWife picked up a phone call even though caller ID said “unknown caller”. For a totally inexplicable reason, she passed it to me when what was obviously a sales call of some sort, but it was pretty short:
“If the election were held today, which party would you rather see win control, Democrats or Republicans?”I replied, “That would depend on the candidates that were running.” (This is not a lie. I’d vote for quite a few Dems before I’d ever vote for an Arlen Specter or Rudolph Giuliani.)
“Thank you sir, have a nice evening.”
The telemarketers were obviously targeting die-hard Republicans and didn’t want to deal with debating anyone, even a past “you can count on him” contributor.
Yep, no more money for a party that supports liberals instead of true conservatives. Now I donate only to the candidate, especially those backed by the Club for Growth, or select PACs.

So does this mean you will only donate to the Constitution Party?

I would donate to the Constitution Party for the same reason that I would support a local Libertarian (never going to vote for a fed Libertarian) &mdash to break the two-party strangle hold on American politics. But I disagree with the Constitution Party for the same reason that I disagree with Libertarians, total lack of support for the war on terror.
Some may find it offensive that we are exporting democracy and freedom, but I don’t. I’m all for religious freedom but I don’t find it offensive that we are removing religion from governments where that religion calls for “honor” killings of innocent girls and the stoning of homosexuals. And I don’t think that removing ourselves militarily from the rest of the world will stop them from envying us for our wealth or hating the way our culture intrudes on (destroys) theirs because of market forces. And I certainly don’t think that “strategic withdrawal” will stop a segment of Muslims from attempting to establish a global ‘caliphate’ founded on Shari’a law (a goal stated early and often by terrorists).
So no, no big checks written to any party. Last night I did, however, send checks to BAMPAC, the 2nd Amendment Foundation, the Club for Growth and Marsha Blackburn &mdash even if they were for tiny amounts.
Why send money to Marsha Blackburn? although she vote good on Abortion and the 2nd amendment issues, she SUPPORTS the United Nations (with your tax dollars) which wants to OutLaw personal ownership of guns. She also votes for every PORK project in the world. And ofcourse CAFTA and the WTO and… well she is certianly no conservative.
I had quite a bit of fun sqewing poll numbers during the last presidential election. I got a lot of calls from political telemarketers becasue I register “independent”. They were asking questions clearly designed to elicit an anti-Bush, etc. point of view and I gave them what they wanted – in spades! When people who clearly wanted Republican support called, I was merely lukewarm but at least not hostile to them.
Clearly, I DETEST polling and believe no good can come of it – except my own entertainment.
Meanwhile, of course I support both monetarily and with my door-to-door efforts those candidates who are deserving. I regret to say that George Voinovich and Mike DeWine will not be benefiting from my attentions any time in the near future – or ever again. On the other hand, we DO have Ken Blackwell running for governor!
are you sure that it wasn’t just a run of the mill pollster?
