Right Track/Wrong Track

Juan Williams (whom, I am fully convinced, FNC keeps around as comic relief) keeps harping on the fact that the majority of voters think that America is going in the wrong direction and want a change, ergo Bush is in trouble. Indeed, Rasmussen Reports finds that only 44% of voters believe America is on the “right track”.

Fred Barnes must have gotten tired of Williams’ one-track myopia and done some research on the subject because he called Williams on it during today’s Special Report broadcast:

Barnes: Remember what the “right track” number was for President Clinton when he was reelected in 1996?

Williams: No.

Barnes: 39 percent.

Of course that didn’t shut Williams up. Facts rarely do.

  1. Digger says:

    That is just hilarious!
I love it when someone is arguing so hard for something and then gets slapped down.
Hannity tries to do that a lot with his “Do you know who said this?” bit, where he quotes a known and respected liberal on an issue that is a counterpoint to the liberal guest on the show, but you can see Hannity coming from a mile away with that stuff.

  2. “America is on the wrong track” doesn’t necessarily mean “John Kerry will put us on the right track.” It’s quite possible to think that America is on the wrong track, but that Kerry will just make things even worse.
