I took another look at the predictions I made and do not find them all that rosey. I predict several things that will come out worse — for instance, immigration reform, spam, and internet taxes. As for Republican gains in the Senate, that is widely believed to be true — I am just a little optimistic when I say four seats but let’s face it, it could be as many as seven (although more probably three).

I would love to hear your comments on Hargett — he’s my rep.
As for H1-B Visas, I’m actually generally in favor of taking the best and brightest from around the world and putting them to work here. As an IT manager I know that specific skills can be impossible to find in a backwater like Memphis. H1-B Visas have helped us fill a void.
Democrats pundits are predicting good things from their perspective because they are blind stupid optimists. Not really — there are bad things I could have predicted (the immediate budget-crushing weight of Medicare reform) but there is so much going our way so I kept it rosey.
I’ve not seen any pessimistic predictions. PunditFilter has a short list of bloggers who made predictions and a few more that made New Years Resolutions.
It will be interesting to see who got it right a year from now.

I recognize the name Tre’ Hargett… I won’t go into details here.
And I also recognized the name “H1-B visa.” That program should never have been started, and needs to be phased out and eliminated soon. There are plenty of people here – young and old – black, white, etc… – male and female – who could do those jobs. They don’t need to import any more “indentured servants” from Asia.
Also, why does it seem that, with regard to predictions being made about politics and elections, the conservative/Republican commentators almost always seem to predict that the Republicans will do well, or very well, in the elections, while the Democratic/liberal commentators seem to almost always say the same about the Democrats? Even before I was part of the Blogosphere, and was reading blogs, I had recognized that happening, with television commentators. It seems that, among the few bloggers’ predictions for 2004 that I’ve seen, the same is true for the Blogosphere.
Are there any blogs that did this ‘predictions’ thing, for which a major conservative or Republican blogger predicted that Bush will lose his re-election bid, or that something bad will happen for our party? I could ask the same thing about the liberal bloggers, except that some major leftist or left-leaning bloggers seem to be supportive of the Bush administration, and its policies (i.e., Charles Johnson, Michael Totten, and others…). But among those liberal bloggers who have been strongly opposing Bush, and his policies, are there any that have predicted that he will coast to re-election, or that the Republicans will solidify their majority in both houses of Congress, and will enact major reforms in national policy?
That would be very interesting to see, whether and if there are major conservative and liberal bloggers like that.
