True, which is why I specifically refer to the "third undertaking in Somalia". Bush 41 put us in Somalia in August of '92 and, according to GlobalSecurity.org:

The operation was successful in stopping the famine and saving an estimated 200,000 lives, as well as de-escalating the high-intensity civil war into low-level, local skirmishes.

He then put us back over there in December and Clinton took over in January. Even this mission was deemed a success, although it was clear that there were problems in assessing the political situation. It was the third mission that started off bad and went downhill from there.

For the sake of being thorough, we should include the fact that Bush Sr. sent the troops to Somalia (including my father). Clinton F’d everything up–but your write up suggests that Somalia was a brainchild of Clinton.
