There is a day of reckoning up ahead, one that&#039;s likely to leave McConnell not just a few, but a few dozen, votes short of being in control of the Senate, even as a glib  obstructionist.
George W. Bush was able to defy political gravity for awhile, pursuing policies and making decisions  that went against the grain with most Americans. That cost Republicans control of Congress.
Congressional Republicans persist in behaving as though political gravity has been repealed. It hasn&#039;t.
As long as this is still a democracy — however damaged by radical right-wing Republicans&#039; political mischief and incompetence, and tarnished by their arrogance and corruption — the people will have the final say.
For the people&#039;s thinking, check all the major polls going back more than two years.
