McConnell: New Senate Leader
Hugh Hewitt applauds Mitch McConnell’s performance during the Dem’s all-night stunt:
After Democratic leader Harry Reid’s MoveOn.org all-night session Tuesday night, a move that resulted only in helping unify the weak-kneed Republicans who were peeling away from continued support of the Petraeus surge in Iraq, McConnell, the Republican leader, served notice to anyone watching C-SPAN that he now runs the Senate.
Read it all as Hewitt goes on to invent the word “mitchslapped”. Heh.

Oh really? Strikes me this is an example of the fallacy that goes, “What is is what will be.”
There is a day of reckoning up ahead, one that’s likely to leave McConnell not just a few, but a few dozen, votes short of being in control of the Senate, even as a glib obstructionist.
George W. Bush was able to defy political gravity for awhile, pursuing policies and making decisions that went against the grain with most Americans. That cost Republicans control of Congress.
Congressional Republicans persist in behaving as though political gravity has been repealed. It hasn’t.
As long as this is still a democracy — however damaged by radical right-wing Republicans’ political mischief and incompetence, and tarnished by their arrogance and corruption — the people will have the final say.
For the people’s thinking, check all the major polls going back more than two years.
