Liberal Lies

The top 25 contributors to political 527s have donated a total of 57.9 million dollars during the 2004 election season.
Over 97% of the donations from those rich enough to be able to fund these groups went to liberal organizations.
These groups are dedicated to one political cause or another. For instance, the Joint Victory Campaign 2004, America Coming Together, and MoveOn.org (the three organizations that received 83% of the contributions) are single-mindedly dedicated to defeating President Bush.
Just over $1.5 million (out of the nearly $60 million given) went to conservative causes — like supporting Republican student groups on our liberal campuses.

Fighting these kinds of rich-elitist-liberals that want to remake America into thier version of a Rousseauian paradise will take money. Today is Wictory Wednesday, the day when conservatives and freedom lovers make their voice heard by contributing to the Bush-Cheney ’04 campaign. No donation is too small because the president needs all the help he can get as he campaigns against John Kerry, compulsive liar, admitted war criminal and professional waffles server.
Help by volunteering your time and/or donating money to the Bush-Cheney ’04 campaign:

From the bottom of the page i assuem you are looking at on opensecrets.org. I’m pretty sure you’re misquoting numbers there.
* Joint Victory Campaign 2004 is a joint fund-raising committee run by America Coming Together and the Media Fund. Money raised by JVC is divided between these two beneficiaries. Combining receipts for these three groups would result in double-counting.
According to OpenSecrets.org, these donations were made specifically to each of those three organizations. So while some monies went to the JVC, others were donated specifically to ACT and MF.
It appears the legend on the bar chart doesn’t match the graph. The chart shows one group got about $30M, the legend shows one group got about $30M, but they disagree about what color the bar is.
Whatever you may think it appears like, you are reproducing data, and citing a website in a way that that website specifically states is misleading. The entire point of the JVC is to pass money on to other parties, therefore, you are double counting THE HIGHEST MONETARY VALUE, the money from JVC does not go only to ACT and MF, it is spread to others as well. at least reproduce the * on your charts
Clearly there are donations to ACT and MF that dont pass through the JVC, but all money raised by the JVC is counted by the ACT and MF, therefore your total value is off by almost 30M, almost half of the value of your proposed total, and you are taking data and twisting it in a way that the original compilers specifically tried to prevent.

The graph has been updated so the colors in the legend actually match the colors on the bars (I guess Excel got a little confused the first time around). I’ve also changed the color scheme to make it easier to pick out the four little conservative recipients — they are now blue.
As for the JVC question brought up by RobbieP, no — you are flat out wrong. Look at the source of my information! People like Soros and Bing gave money to all three organizations. It is not a case of ACT getting some money from JVC and claiming it again. How the dickens would they know that the money came from Soros or Bing or whoever before it got to them?
The numbers are accurate. I refer you to OpenSecrets.org.
