Entire Media has Dowd Disease
Remember how Dowd parsed Bush’s statements to mislead readers? It’s happening again, only just about everyone is jumping on board.
Last week Cheney gave a speech and talked about how Kerry would react to a terrorist track. As a result:
- The Financial Times said: Vote for Kerry a risk to security, says Cheney
- The Irish Examiner World said Cheney says vote for Kerry is vote for terrorism
- The BBC proclaimed, “US Vice-President Dick Cheney says a vote for John Kerry would make a terror attack more likely.”
- WaPo says:
Vice President Cheney warned on Tuesday that if John F. Kerry is elected, “the danger is that we’ll get hit again” by terrorists, as the Bush campaign escalated a furious assault on the Democratic presidential nominee that has kept Kerry from gaining control of the election debate.
Read what Cheney actually said and see if you come to the same conclusion as the media:
Because if we make the wrong choice, then the danger is that we’ll get hit again, that we’ll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States, and that we’ll fall back into the pre-9-11 mind-set, if you will, that in fact these terrorist attacks are just criminal acts, and that we’re not really at war. I think that would be a terrible mistake for us.
And they call themselves journalists. Disgusting.
